Singer-Songwriter Ryan Perdz Releases New Single ‘Heavy Eyes’ Amid Rock Revival
Ryan Perdz releases Heavy Eyes on Big Machine Rock, a rock-inspired track about loss. The Buffalo singer-songwriter has 1M TikTok followers and a Chris Cornell comparison.
A generation after rock faded from mainstream radio, a new wave of guitar-driven artists is bringing the genre’s emotional intensity back to the forefront — and Ryan Perdz intends to be among them.
The Buffalo-born singer-songwriter releases “Heavy Eyes” on Friday, a brooding new track on Big Machine Rock that channels the dynamic tension and emotional rawness associated with 1990s rock.
“The inspiration behind ‘Heavy Eyes’ is the struggle of losing someone and the weight it holds in your life,” Perdz said. “My lyrics will speak to the people who sometimes can’t speak for themselves.”
Even as those comparisons mounted, Perdz was articulating a forward-looking vision. In a 2020 interview with Fredonia State’s student publication The Leader, he said his goal was to “reinvent the classic grunge sound in a new, modern way” — a statement that reads differently now that the rock revival has become a cultural storyline.

The moment appears to have caught up with his ambitions. Artists including Yungblud, Turnstile and Fontaines D.C. have helped return heavier guitar music to mainstream conversation, and music industry veteran Scott Lipps recently placed Perdz at No. 3 on a ranking of emerging rock acts, calling him “one part grunge, one part Americana, one part hard rock, with a voice and a vibe that fits perfectly in the grunge world.”
Perdz signed with Big Machine Rock in early 2025, following the label’s acquisition by Gebbia Media. His recent single “Sour” gained traction on rock radio ahead of Friday’s release, continuing a string of singles that also includes “January” and “Temporary.”
