When ABC announced the current cast of Dancing With the Stars, one pro dancer was noticeably absent: Sasha Farber. Fans are still wondering why Sasha is not on DWTS — despite his fourth-place finish with Simone Biles last season.

“Might not even watch knowing that @SashaFarber is not a pro,” one fan tweeted while another added, “@SashaFarber should be a pro every season what kind of demon possessed you this season to not make him one @DancingABC.” His partner Simone also expressed her anger, writing, “Hey @SashaFarber. I heard about the sad news LOVE YOU! team Sasha forever Keep your chin up!! miss ya!!”

Sasha has not spoken out about the “demotion” to the DWTS troupe, but he is still excitedly watching the reality dancing competition and cheering on his fiancée Emma Slater, who is currently paired with Property Brothers star Drew Scott. “Ok guys you know what time it is! Please Vote for Drew and Emma 1800-868 3404,” he recently tweeted. He also thanked his fans, adding, “I’m very lucky to have such amazing support from my fans!!! I love them all.”

Sasha wasn’t alone when it came to the casting slight. Former pro-dancer Jenna Johnson also didn’t make the cut. Last season, Jenna took the year off to heal from an injury. “After the best 4 years of my life, I am ready to take some time for myself, get rejuvenated and prep for my next venture… this isn’t the last you are going to see of me,” she wrote. “Thank you ALL for continuing to love and support me through this journey!!”

The shakeup is not a big surprise, seeing as Sasha went pro in Season 17 and was bumped to the troupe for four seasons. Hopefully, this time it won’t take as long for his return to center stage. In the meantime, there is another Sasha taking over the ballroom this season — Pretty Little Liars star Sasha Pieterse!
