At least someone is optimistic for Roseanne Barr amid this whole scandal. Roseanne was cancelled on Tuesday, May 29 after the actress shared a racist tweet, and now, Whoopi Goldberg has revealed she thinks she still has a chance for a career comeback.

When asked by Entertainment Tonight she replied, “I’m sure she can. Everybody seems to be able to come back, so.”

Fans were surprised to see Whoopi so pro-Roseanne after the former sitcom star retweeted an altered photo last week of Whoopi wearing a very vulgar shirt with Donald Trump’s face on it. It has since been deleted, but the caption read, “Out of curiosity @ABC & @Disney this is okay with you? Hypocrisy on the Left is sickening! Your Pathetic! #BoycottABC #IStandWithRoseanne.”

Whoopi further opened up about that situation when speaking to ET. “This freaking shirt comes out every time somebody wants to say something and I just feel like I have to keep saying it’s not real, you know?” she shared “I understand you’re going through you, but don’t take me with you. Don’t try to take me. I can try to get bad on my own. They make up stuff about me anyway, so I just wanted to be clear.”

Since the cancellation last week, fans have been taking to social media to suggest several different spin-off ideas. It was most recently reported that there’s one in the works centered all around Sara Gilbert’s character, Darlene Conner. “The powers that be at ABC are exploring the possibility of re-branding the show and focusing on the character Darlene instead of Roseanne,” a source told TMZ.

Roseanne also recently replied to a fan’s plea for Fox to pick up Roseanne. “Retweet if YOU WANT @FOXTV to pick up my friend @therealroseanne’s Hit Show! #FreedomOfSpeech #1A @FoxNews @POTUS @realDonaldTrump @seanhannity @HappeningNow @kanyewest #FreeThinker,” Oliver McGee wrote. The 65-year-old actress replied, “No, but thanks for your support!”
