She’s back! Whoopi Goldberg looked every inch a movie star at the 2025 Oscars, returning to the event for the first time since 2016.

The View host, 69, looked stunning in her outfit as she posed for photographers before heading inside Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre on Sunday, March 2. She wore a floor-length blue gown with an off-the-shoulder neckline and brought her daughter, Alex Martin, as her date.

Whoopi attended the ceremony to present an award. The ceremony is destined to be a big night for her Ghost costar and 2025 Best Actress nominee Demi Moore.

Whoopi won her first and only Oscar for Ghost in 1991, taking home the Best Supporting Actress trophy. Demi, 62, is nominated for the first time for the horror film, The Substance.

It was a thrill for many fans to see Whoopi looking so glam again, as she wears funky and casual outfits on The View. She’s been with the ABC daytime talk show for 18 seasons, starting in 2006.

The program’s viewers rejoiced when the show announced on February 11 that Whoopi was going to hit the 2025 Oscars stage as a presenter.

“IT WILL BE EPIC,” one follower gushed, while another wrote, “Excellent choice, she was always one of the very best.”

The Color Purple star had a long run in the ’90s and early aughts serving as host of the Oscars ceremony. Whoopi lent her dry sense of humor and sarcasm to hosting duties in 1994, 1996, 1999 and 2002.

“I had a great time. The critics didn’t love me, but I never cared much what the critics thought as long as people had a good time,” Whoopi told Variety in 2021 about her experiences as an Oscars host.

At the time, she gave advice to future emcees of the Academy Awards.

“Whoever the host is has to love the movies, because they have to keep you engaged,” she revealed. “They have to be talking to you as the show has a break, and talk about what’s happening or what’s coming next. And the best person at that was Billy [Crystal].”

Billy, 76 hosted nine times between 1990 and 2000, with Whoopi taking his place in the years in between the City Slickers star. Comedian Conan O’Brien is hosting the 2025 ceremony.

Whoopi made a rare comment about her the acceptance speech she gave when winning her Oscar during an October 2024 episode of The View.

When holding the trophy, she gushed, “Ever since I was a little kid I wanted this … My brother’s sittin’ there, he says, ‘Thank God we don’t have to listen to any more. You can do it now.’ My mom’s home, everybody’s watching …. ”

Whoopi explained why her mom wasn’t in the audience with her that night to her fellow The View panelists. Emma Harris attended with her daughter in 1985, but stayed at home in 1991.

“My mother didn’t come when I won. She came when I was nominated for Color Purple, but she didn’t wanna be there in case I didn’t win again,” the Boys on the Side actress revealed.

Whoopi briefly mentioned her mom’s absence in her 2010 memoir, Bits and Pieces: My Mother, My Brother, and Me. Her mother died that same year after suffering a stroke.

“My mother wasn’t at the ceremony because she didn’t want to show disappointment if I lost. My daughter Alex and my brother Clyde came with me, everyone looking like two-million bucks,” she wrote.
