On Tuesday’s new episode of The View, one of the show’s beloved co-hosts was sadly missing — Whoopi Goldberg.

According to a new report, the 59-year-old star left NYC to be by her brother‘s side in California on Monday evening after learning he had suffered a brain aneurysm. Clyde K. Johnson, 65, sadly died just hours after she arrived.

Clyde — the actress’ only sibling — and Whoopi were allegedly incredibly close. He even worked as her driver in Hollywood for many years on film sets.

On Tuesday morning, a tweet published on The View‘s official account made note of Whoopi’s absence from the daytime talk show.

“We’re sending our kisses to @WhoopiGoldberg who is with her family today,” the message — accompanied with a picture of co-hosts Rosie Perez and Nicolle Wallace and guest hosts Raven-Symoné, Paula Faris and Toni Braxton blowing kisses at the camera — read.

The loss comes just five years after the Oscar nominee — who remained absent from the daytime talk show on Wednesday morning — similarly lost her mother, Emma Johnson, from a stroke in August 2010.

“My brother and I were very, very lucky to have her in our lives. And so, I’m not sad because she had a great time. I think I’m just sad sometimes because I think, ‘Who will love me the way that she did?’ But I realized that my brother and I have each other so we’re OK,” Whoopi said of her late mother on a September 2010 episode of The View.
