Cheers, Rande Gerber!

The 55-year-old Long Island native has made quite a name (and fortune!) for himself throughout his career.

The entertainment industry businessman might have gotten his start as a male model, but he's since found success as an entrepreneur in the bar and nightlife industries. In fact, he recently made headlines because he and his business partner, George Clooney, just sold their tequila company, Casamigos for $1 billion.

"If you asked us four years ago if we had a billion dollar company, I don’t think we would have said yes," George admitted in a statement to People. "This reflects [buyer] Diageo’s belief in our company and our belief in Diageo. But we’re not going anywhere. We’ll still be very much a part of Casamigos. Starting with a shot tonight. Maybe two."

The press release continued to explain how Rande and George would be paid for the company. "The transaction values Casamigos at up to $1 billion, with initial consideration set at $700 million and a further potential $300 million based on a performance linked earn-out over 10 years, reflecting the brand’s exceptional growth trajectory and upside potential."

He's married to Cindy Crawford!

Talk about a lucky guy! Not only is Rande a millionaire (and almost billionaire), he also married supermodel Cindy Crawford. The couple tied the knot in 1998 and have been married for almost 20 years. They share two children together, Presley, 17, and Kaia, 15. While his kids are still a bit too young to enjoy Rande's tequila, Cindy enjoys a drink every now and then!

"That’s all they drink, on the rocks," Rande told Business Insider of his wife and her friends' girls nights. "It's the healthier choice, and they know they won’t be hungover in the morning. They don’t get puffy from it which is important for [them]."

Rande and George created Casamigos by accident.

Now, this might seem hard to believe — how does one build a hugely successful tequila company without trying?! It turns out George and Rande were just a couple of buddies on vacation in Mexico when they realized they were dissatisfied with the local tequila choices.

"As you do in Mexico, we would drink a lot of tequila," Rande explained. "We'd go out to bars and restaurants and bartenders would recommend them. Some were good, some not so good, and some expensive. There came a point where George turned to me and said, 'Why don’t we create one that's perfect for us?'"

Casamigos has a distinct taste which makes it unique!

Tequila sometimes has a bad repuation for being fun the night of and not so fun the morning after. However, Rande and George set out to create an alcohol that wouldn't make people regret drinking it the next day.

"We wanted one that didn’t burn going down, that was super smooth, and had the right flavor profile," Rande once said. "One that we didn’t have to mix — typically we drink it straight or on the rocks — that we could drink all day long and not be hungover in the morning."

We'll drink to that!
