Is Derek Hough returning to Dancing With the Stars?

He sadly is not. However, in a recent interview he joked that he would come back if he was paired with one very special celebrity — Celine Dion! He left the show in Season 24 to be a judge on the new show World of Dance with J.Lo, so many fans assume he’s going to be busy with that again this season. He was also supposed to go on tour with his sister, Julianne Hough. Additionally, he just released a book called Taking the Lead.

It was recently announced that Julianne will also not be returning as a judge this season (we hate that it will be Hough-less). Although the real reason has yet to be revealed, many fans think it’s so she and her husband, Brooks Laich, can just enjoy being newlyweds!

Derek opened up about how he loves the show despite the fact that he’s not returning. “I love them all. I was just nominated for an Emmy this past weekend, and it’s always been for Dancing With the Stars, so it’s kind of bittersweet, because it was my last performance,” he admitted to Entertainment Tonight. “I love that show. It’s amazing.”

As far as a comeback, Derek isn’t ruling anything out. “I’m never saying never [to returning to the show in the future],” he added. “They’re my family. I will always be a positive ambassador for that show. I love it dearly.”

Who won Dancing With the Stars last season?

During Season 24, former NFL star Rashad Jennings took home the Mirror Ball Trophy. He was paired with his pro partner, Emma Slater!
