The California native has been the true definition of a boss throughout her career. Her work ethic hasn’t changed from when she first started out in the fashion industry. In the past, Tyra shared a little bit of helpful advice about shutting down your haters and reaching success.

“Somebody telling you that you are not good enough, you can’t do it, it’s not going to happen, it’s impossible, sit down, shut up, step aside and move over for somebody else,” the business mogul, who owns TYRA Beauty, said.

How Else Does Tyra Banks Make Money?

A majority of Tyra’s net worth came from more than a decade of serving as the host and executive producer of America’s Next Top Model. She continued to dominate the CW network when the opportunity came for her to host her own talk show in 2005. The Tyra Banks Show ran until 2010 and scored two Daytime Emmy Awards throughout its run.

In 2017, Tyra was tapped to host season 12 of America’s Got Talent. She was brought back once more to host in season 13 before moving on from the series. Tyra went from NBC to ABC in 2020, beginning her journey on Dancing with the Stars in season 29. She replaced longtime hosts Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews as the new face of the show. The supermodel shared in a July 2021 statement that she had been a huge fan of the series “since the beginning.”

In between hosting and producing Dancing with the Stars, Tyra created her own company full of sweet treats called Smize Cream. The ice cream brand features a “Smize Surprise” in every cup and ships all over the U.S. The delicious treat was originally supposed to be sold at ModelLand, a modeling-themed amusement park.

The grand opening of ModelLand was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Tyra did open up a Smize Cream store in Santa Monica Place in July 2021. She has one huge career inspiration that she hopes to emulate with the opening of ModelLand.

“Walt Disney is one of my inspirations, my role models,” Tyra told Variety in July 2021. “I look at what he did and how it’s still relevant to this day. His legacy lives on — the family entertainment, the happiest place on Earth. That’s what I want, a legacy.”

Why Did Tyra Banks Leave ‘Dancing With the Stars’?

In March 2023, Tyra announced she was leaving her hosting role on Dancing With the Stars

“I feel it’s really time for me to focus on my business and my entrepreneurship, and also producing more TV — but behind the scenes,” she told TMZ at the time. “I think it’s time to graduate from the dance floor to the stock market floor. … from the ballroom to the boardroom!”
