The special airing will be quite memorable, as it will be all about former Sen. Elizabeth Dole’s Hidden Heroes organization, which supports military caregivers. “We’re gonna be surrounded by incredible veterans, their remarkable caregivers and loved ones,” Savannah, 47, said of the upcoming program. “We’re gonna tell you their stories.”
All those who check in to see the Oscar winning actor, 62, will also be treated to Sheryl Crow, as she is scheduled to perform. “I hope he’s practicing,” the broadcast journalist said of the Forrest Gump star. Also joining the pair will be Al Roker, although Hoda Kotb will not be there as she is still out on maternity leave after welcoming adopted daughter Hope Catherine.
Savannah also took to Instagram to share the news. “Ive always wanted to cohost with Tom Hanks … and now I am!” she captioned a promo pic of the show.
Fans are also all about this pairing. “Mr. Hanks is my absolute No. 1 celebrity I’d love to meet. Love his work and he seems such a good person,” one viewer said in the comments section. Another added, “How amazing! I love Tom Hanks and you! What a great team!”
It is wonderful to see the Saving Private Ryan costar taking some time off from his extremely busy schedule to support a great cause. However, we are sure Tom will be back to work soon afterwards. He already has a full slate of films for the near future, starting with Toy Story 4. Following that will be the highly-anticipated Mister Rogers movie, A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, and a biopic about legendary musician Elvis Presley.
We can’t wait to see them all!
