Tim McGraw is going through a rough time with a huge back surgery coming up, but he’s got wife Faith Hill and the whole of the country community willing him to make a speedy recovery.
“Messages are pouring in, and everyone’s so proud of him for doing this and dealing with the issue head-on and not taking risk,” an insider exclusively tells Closer. “No doubt it’s difficult for him and he’s got a long road ahead, the recovery will be excruciating, but he has the support of so many people in his corner and that means the world to him.”
“People like Kenny Chesney, Lionel Richie, Tracy Lawrence and Randy Travis and others are offering to help him and the family any way they can,” the insider adds. “They’re all getting up in age and have their aches and pains and troubles, so they applaud Tim for being strong in the face of adversity. They’re telling him he’ll be back on the horse in no time.”
It was first reported by Deadline in January that Tim, 57, would be exiting an upcoming Netflix series about bull riding, which he was set to star in and executive produce, due to his upcoming back surgery.
A source close to the “Something Like That” singer indicated to the outlet that Tim “needed to undergo back surgery which would require recovery time.”
News of the back surgery came after Tim underwent double knee surgery in August 2024 after sustaining an injury on tour. He was forced to cancel the rest of his 2024 tour as a result.
“In close consultation with his doctors, Tim McGraw will undergo necessary orthopedic surgery on both knees this month due to an injury sustained on tour,” Sandia Resort & Casino, where Tim was supposed to perform, wrote in a statement on Instagram. “Unfortunately this will prevent him from performing any shows for the remainder of this year, including the show on August 24th in Albuquerque, NM. Tim hates to disappoint fans, but he intends to rest and do physical therapy so he can deliver tremendous concerts for many years to come.”

Amid his health journey, Closer’s insider says that Tim is thankful for Faith, 57, for helping him get through this point in his life.
“Tim’s got Faith, of course,” the insider says. “She’s rode with him through all the hills and valleys. All those years of abusing his body with alcohol and junk food may have done damage, but Tim’s been sober for almost 20 years and he’s been working out in the gym every day, so that counts for something.”
In March 2025, Tim shared an Instagram post that left fans optimistic about his return to the stage. The video featured clips of Tim performing on stage, riding horses and interacting with fans throughout his career.
“Feels like forever since we had a rodeo in Nashville……sure would be nice if someone fixed that!!” he captioned the post, leading many fans to excitedly comment.
“I would certainly go to that rodeo!” one person said.
“Nashville needs a Rodeo again,” another person commented.
According to Tim’s official website, he currently has a concert scheduled for August 30 at the Field of Dreams in Dyersville, Iowa.
