“Did you know I tested for Friends for Jennifer Aniston?” Tiffani said. And since she was already a rising star thanks to her portrayal of Kelly Kapowski in Saved by the Bell, she could have been a shoo-in for the role!
However, the casting directors decided to pick Jennifer, 49 — who was an mostly undiscovered actress at the time — to play Rachel because she had a more mature look.
“I was just a little too young. I was a little too young to [join] the pairing of the rest of them,” the 44-year-old actress shared. Other actors who tried out for the role were Jane Krakowski and even Jen’s BFF Courteney Cox, who ended up playing Monica Geller in Friends.
Though Tiffani didn’t get the role that she expected, the show still turned out to be one of the most highly acclaimed sitcoms of the ’90s. The series ran for 10 seasons until its final episode aired in 2004. Since the show ended, fans have been wondering when they can expect to see a reboot, and according to Star Magazine, Jen is already working on one.
“Jen wants to make the reboot work with a Millennial angle, and has reached out to some of the original writers,” a source recently told the magazine. “It’s hush-hush at the moment, but the whispers are getting louder!”
Jen has reportedly already asked some of her former co-stars to sign on for a reboot and a few of them have apparently said yes! Courteney and Lisa Kudrow (aka Phoebe Buffay) are expected to make an appearance in Jen’s new show called Friends 2.0 — and we can’t wait!
