Now in their 60s, the cast of the TV show Thirtysomething have come a long way since defining an entire generation, making television history in the LGBTQ community, and coining its namesake, now an Oxford English Dictionary-approved word.

Though it only ran for four years, the impact of the series, which focused on yuppie angst, the intricacies of marriage, and navigating friendship, was great.

The term “Thirtysomething” was just a made-up word back in 1987, when the show premiered, but by 1993, it was added into the dictionary, solidifying it as a “real” word. It was also the first show to ever include a scene with two men in bed together.
