‘The Sopranos’ Star Edie Falco Shares Her Reaction When She Found out She Was Going to Be on Broadway (EXCLUSIVE)

You may know her from The Sopranos, but did you also know that Edie Falco was on Broadway? The actress starred in the stage production of Side Man in the late 1990s, just before she got the TV role of Carmela Soprano.

In a new exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, the 54-year-old shared her reaction when she learned she’d be on Broadway. “I was a kid from Long Island, [New York], so the thought of going to Broadway was beyond!” the star told Closer at the NBC Summer TCA Press event in August 2017. “I was so excited. The first thing I did was call my parents to let them know.”

Edie enjoys stepping out of the box when it comes to her roles. She’s also starred as a drug-addicted nurse in Nurse Jackie, Officer Diane Whittlesey in Oz, and is now working on Law & Order: True Crime. However, she can’t help but reflect on her days as the wife of New Jersey mob boss Tony Soprano.

“It was fun,” Edie previously said of her eight-year-long run on the show. “The hair, the makeup, the jewelry, the clothing, everything was so over the top. That is so not who I am. It was refreshing to step away from what was familiar to me.”
