'The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd' Cast: Where Are They Now?

Created by Jay Tarses, The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd was a dramedy series that undoubtedly served as a vehicle for its star, Blair Brown. In fact, the actress earned five Emmy nominations for playing the titular role of the equally yuppie and bohemian divorcée — one for each season it aired.

The first season of the show aired on NBC from 1987-1988 before it moved over to Lifetime and aired its other four seasons from 1988-1991. Aside from Blair, the cast included folks like William Converse-Roberts, Richard Lawson, David Strathairn and Maureen Anderman as the people in Molly’s life.

Since it has been about 30 years since The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd lit up the small screen, we figured it was about time we caught up with everyone is up to these days.

Blair Brown

Though the titular Molly always seemed to live from job to job, Blair, 73, thrived by going from the theater (where she won a Tony for the play Copenhagen) to making films such as Space Cowboys and Dogville and returning to TV, whether in movies or recurring roles on Fringe and Orange Is the New Black.

William Converse-Roberts

Following his days as Molly’s jazz-playing ex-husband Fred, William, 67, has been notable for his turns on the stage, in movies such as Kiss
the Girls and Bandits as well as for recurring roles on TV’s Reasonable Doubts, The Client, Dangerous Minds and Any Day Now. He’s also made guest appearances on shows from Murder, She Wrote to Firefly.

Richard Lawson

Subsequent to his nights playing Molly’s baby daddy Det. Nathaniel Hawthorne, Richard, 72, hasn’t been kidding around — what with roles in movies such as How Stella Got Her Groove Back and appearing in over 20 TV shows, including Saints & Sinners and In Contempt. And, in 2015, he became Beyoncé’s stepfather by marrying her mom, Tina Knowles.

David Strathairn

While Molly once found romance with bookstore owner Moss Goodman, David, 70, has enjoyed a novel career by mixing Broadway runs with movies such as A League of Their Own, Good Night, and Good Luck, The Bourne Ultimatum, Lincoln and Godzilla and TV appearances on Billions, The Blacklist and Temple Grandin, for which he won an Emmy.

Maureen Anderman

After Molly’s best friend Nina Shapiro, Maureen, 72, found it best to focus on theater — whether appearing on Broadway in Driving Miss Daisy, touring the world in Shakespeare’s Richard III or appearing extensively at Boston’s Huntington Theatre Company. She has occasionally returned to TV, with roles on One Life to Live and Law & Order to her credits.
