ABC screened two episodes of the Roseanne-less Roseanne spin-off, The Conners, for the press on Friday, Oct. 12 and Closer Weekly got a sneak peek of the revamped show before its premiere on Tuesday, Oct. 16. The two episodes — titled “Keep On Truckin” and “Tangled Up in Blue” — are airing next Tuesday and Tuesday, Nov. 13, respectively, and while members of the media were sworn to secrecy about the fate of Roseanne Barr’s character, Roseanne Conner, we can share some information on what’s up with the rest of the characters.

DAN CONNER (John Goodman)

Roseanne’s husband looks to have lost a shocking amount of weight, even though the season opener takes place only three weeks after last spring’s cliffhanger. He’s still scraping by with his drywall business and working on motorcycles in the garage.

JACKIE HARRIS (Laurie Metcalf)

Roseanne’s sister, Jackie, continues to work as a life coach — even though she doesn’t have a life. She’s staying with her mom, Bev (Estelle Parsons), and claims she has a new boyfriend, although he’s not seen in the two episodes that were shown.

DARLENE CONNER HEALY (Sara Gilbert)

Darlene may dip her toes back into the dating pool after a stranger (Justin Long) asks her out at the Mexican cantina where her sister Becky works. But Darlene isn’t yet officially divorced from David (Johnny Galecki), who’s now working at Trader Joe’s.

BECKY CONNER (Lecy Goranson)

Becky gets a second job working on her dad’s construction crew, over his initial objections, and starts to realize she could have an addiction problem.

D.J. CONNER (Michael Fishman)

D.J. services vending machines for a living and gets a visit from his wife, Gina (Maya Lynne Robinson, replacing Xosha Roquemore in the role), who has been on active military duty in Afghanistan.

MARK CONNER HEALY (Ames McNamara)

Darlene’s son, Mark, continues to defy traditional gender roles and confides in Dan — of all unlikely people — about his sexual orientation.

Darlene’s teenage daughter, Harris, remains a wild child, and she only gets wilder when she spends a weekend with dad David and his hippie-dippy new girlfriend, Blue (Juliette Lewis).
