‘The Bold and The Beautiful’ Star Rena Sofer Finds Tranquility in Her LA Home
Finding a new home in LA’s San Fernando Valley was a breeze for The Bold and the Beautiful star Rena Sofer, but turning it into her perfect oasis of calm took much, much longer!
The hillside property with expansive views was the first home a real estate agent showed to Rena and her husband, director Sanford Brookstaver, 41, in 2003.
The then-newlywed couple were in the market for a home with potential that would be big enough for their growing family. “It had just come off the market,” Rena, 46, tells ‘Closer.’ “We liked that there was no traffic on the street and that it had amazing views of the entire valley.”

The house needed a complete update, but the couple were optimistic. “We thought, ‘We don’t have to tear down any walls, just redo every room, so it shouldn’t be that bad.’ But we lived here during the renovations — and it was that bad!” she says, laughing.
Today, their five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath, 5,100-square-foot home is decorated in the “comfortable modern” style they love and they worked hard to transform it from its previous “bad ’80s decor.”
“We joked that it looked like someone had done a massive drug bust from ‘Miami Vice’ in our house,” she shares. “It used to be covered in white carpet. We wanted to have a ‘Miami Vice’ party where we served only red wine that you could throw anywhere!”
