YAY!‘The Big Bang Theory’ Renewed for 2 More Seasons

The Big Bang Theory has been renewed for two more seasons, the hit show's network, CBS, announced on Monday, March 20.

The series' producers โ€” Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Bill Prady โ€” have reportedly signed agreements with main actors Johnny Galecki (Leonard Hofstadter), Jim Parsons (Sheldon Cooper), Kaley Cuoco (Penny Hofstadter), Simon Helberg (Howard Wolowitz), and Kunal Nayyar (Rajesh Koothrappali) to stay with the show for the next two years.

Showrunners are still working on extended contracts for supporting stars Mayim Bialik (Amy Farrah Fowler) and Melissa Rauch (Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz). No further details of the cast's deals have been released at this time.

Last week, The Big Bang Theory similarly made headlines because the popular program โ€” which premiered in September 2007 โ€” is getting a new prequel show. The spin-off series is titled Young Sheldon and will follow genius Sheldon Cooper and his family.

According to the network, the single-camera comedy will run 30 minutes and chronicle nine-year-old Sheldon's upbringing in East Texas and early move to high school.

Earlier this month, news additionally broke that Big Bang's five main stars โ€” Johnny, Jim, Kaley, Kunal, and Simon โ€” were planning to decrease their salaries by $100,000 for Seasons 11 and 12 of the hit show to free up $500,000 for co-stars Mayim and Melissa to get significant raises.

If the new cast contracts come to fruition, Mayim and Melissa will each earn roughly $450,000 per Big Bang Theory episode going forward. That would add up to a $21 million total salary for 48 shows over the next two years for the actresses. They were previously earning about $200,000 per episode.

Recent reports have stated the main actors are all each currently paid a whopping $1 million per show.
