Terri Irwin Hasn’t Gone on a Single Date Since Husband Steve Irwin’s 2006 Death

So brave! Terri Irwin is opening up about her husband Steve Irwin‘s death — and confessed she hasn’t gone on a date since her spouse’s 2006 passing, as well as the 15 years before that when they were married, of course.

“I think it’s wonderful when people who have lost someone find love again, but I’m not personally looking,
and I haven’t been on a date in 27 years,” she told People in a new interview. “In fact, it’s been so long, I’ve had a couple of lovely women ask me out because they figured that’s the case.
But I’m content. I have two beautiful kids, a really full plate. I’ve already had my happily ever after.”

Terri and Steve — who sadly died at age 44 after being fatally stabbed by a stingray in September 2006 — first met in 1991, got engaged four months later, and married in June 1992. They have two children together, daughter Bindi, 19, and son Robert, 14.

This isn’t the first time Terri has opened up about dating since Steve’s death. In a 2016 interview with Australia’s Women’s Weekly, she shared, “I haven’t been on a single date since Steve died. If I hadn’t met Steve, I probably would never have married, because I wasn’t looking for love when I met him. What we had was incredible.”

“I still feel immense love and loyalty to Steve. And I’ve got great kids, I’ve got a very full life, and while I’m lonely for Steve, I’m not a lonely person. I think for other people who have lost someone and have loved again, it’s a beautiful thing, but it’s just not really on my horizon,” she continued.

While speaking to People, she shared how she and her family cope with Steve’s death. “We’d each say our favorite part of the day, what we were most looking forward to tomorrow and a good deed we did that day,” Terri said. “You can’t focus on yourself. You need to focus on what you’re doing for others and then you can start to heal.”

And of course, he’ll never be forgotten. “Steve was someone who was larger than life and really did live life to the fullest,” she added. “Even though he died at 44, years of age he lived such a full life and that’s what I want to do and share.”
