Taraji P. Henson Gives Emotional Speech at Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Ceremony: ‘I Said I Would Never Give Up!’

R&B singer Mary J. Blige attended Taraji’s Walk of Fame ceremony and said a few great words about the Hidden Figures actress. “I just want to say how honored, deeply honored and touched I am to be here today,” she shared. “You have been a total inspiration to me.”

Taraji noted how proud she was to have her mother and grandmother at the event. “They are why I do everything I do. I work so hard to make them proud because my grandmother is 94 years old,” she revealed before breaking out in tears. “I know she never thought she would live to see this and grandma I hope you are so proud because this is your legacy.”

Taraji was also joined by her fiancé, Kelvin Hayden, at the special ceremony. While speaking to E News! at the event, Taraji hinted that her wedding dress will be designed by someone whose name starts with a V. Possibly Vera Wang?

“Everything I do is for the positive forward movement of humanity,” Taraji said at the event. “I don’t take anything for granted. Every role that I take on is just as special as the last one because I know that if I put my all into it and if some way this role transforms me, then the audience will be transformed. So everything I do is through love.”

Taraji thanked her fans for supporting her and noted that she wants other actresses and actors to make a change in Hollywood by supporting one another, too. “We need each other,” she confessed. “We can’t bash each other. We have to reach across the table and help each other and that’s always been my message. I am for justice for all. I love all people.”
