Three decades after playing Sheena, Queen of the Jungle, Tanya Roberts is still wild about the great outdoors — which is why she fell in love with her sprawling Hollywood Hills home.
“Living here is like being in the country, but civilization isn’t far away when I need it,” Tanya, 59, shares with ‘Closer.’ “It’s the house I’d always dreamed of.”
Her dream became a reality a decade ago, when Tanya and her husband, Barry Roberts (who died in 2006), went house-hunting in Southern California. Tanya spotted a “for sale” sign, leading them up a treelined road to the “tucked away, really private” property.

Up on the hilltop, the former ‘Bond’ girl found a four-bedroom, four-bath house with a “360-degree view of Los Angeles surrounding every room,” she marvels.
“Barry said, ‘There’s no way that house can be for sale.’ I called the realtor, found out that it was in escrow, and the next day, she called to say the would-be owner used a check they wouldn’t accept — so I got it!”
Built in 1965, the home was nearly perfect. “I didn’t have to do any major renovations,” she recalls. “All I did was add sliding glass doors around the dining area.”

The backyard was a different story. Tanya added spectacular gardens, palm trees and a koi pond with a wooden bridge, mirroring the jungles she roamed playing Sheena in Africa.
“This place is full of wildlife,” says Tanya, who brought the nature theme indoors with animal artwork and prints. “The decor has a very ‘island’ feel to it.”
