Grab your cowboy boots because a sequel to your favorite 2002 rom-com, Sweet Home Alabama, could soon be in the works! During a new interview, the movie's male lead, Josh Lucas, candidly revealed he'd make a second Sweet Home Alabama movie with Reese Witherspoon "in a second."

"I would do it in a second. I think it would be so fascinating and obviously I don’t know where it would go, but I think it would be so fascinating to see where these two characters and the children and where everyone ended up," the 47-year-old actor — who portrayed Jake Perry in the beloved film — confessed during a Tuesday, July 17 appearance on The Talk.

"Are they still together? Are they divorced? Do they want to be back together? I mean, there’s so many different ideas that I think, you know, we all know life is long and complex and they had an interesting relationship to begin with, the two characters," Josh continued, referring to his character Jake's romance with Reese's character, Melanie Carmichael.

"I mean, the fact that they were together from when they were children, I would love to see what’s going on 20 years later," he added. At the end of the original 2002 film, Jake and Melanie finally got back together after the fashion designer left her fiancé Andrew Hennings — played by Patrick Dempsey! — at the altar.

The film also famously starred Candice Bergen (as Andrew's mom, New York City Mayor Kate Hennings), Dakota Fanning (as a young Melanie), Mary Kay Place (as Melanie's mom, Kay Smooter), and Jean Smart (as Jake's mom, Stella Kay Perry).

Though a Sweet Home Alabama sequel isn't currently in the works, we would absolutely love to see Josh and Reese reunite on the big screen after all these years. Luckily, Reese has previously stated that she'd be open to making another about Melanie. "We are not making a sequel that I know of, but if Disney wants to make a sequel they can just call me. I would happily make Sweet Home Alabama 2," she once said.
