Susannah Mushatt Jones lived a long and fulfilling life!
The world's oldest person sadly died at age 116 on Monday, May 12 at a public senior housing facility in Brooklyn, NYC. She had been ill for more than a week prior to her passing, Robert Young, a senior consultant for the LA-based Gerontology Research Group, told the Associated Press.

"Ms. Jones was the very last American from the 1800s," Young said. Susannah was born in 1899, and has been living in the Brooklyn housing facility for the last 30 years.
Though the former nanny had no kids of her own, she's survived by 100 nieces and nephews. Rest in peace, Susannah.
