In an exclusive interview with Closer Weekly, Susan Lucci opens up about how much she’s enjoying life at age 69 by spending quality time with her family — especially with her four grandchildren.

“Since I was a girl, I wanted to be an actress, but I also wanted a family,” she shares with Closer. “I feel so blessed that we’re all intact and happy. To me, it doesn’t get any better.”

Susan talks to Closer about her seven-year-old grandson Brendan, who was diagnosed with cerebral palsy in 2010 and recently had surgery enabling him stand up straight.

“Brendan’s surgery has been a complete success,” Susan tells Closer at the 15th Annual Women Who Care Awards, benefiting United Cerebral Palsy of New York. “He’s walking so beautifully!”

She may have played cutthroat Erica Kane for more than 40 years on All My Children, but Susan is really a big softie when it comes to her four grandkids.

“I love the hugs and kisses!” she gushes. “And Hayden running to me in her tutu shouting, ‘Grammy! Grammy!’ This warmth from the children is the best.”
