She’s back! After spending more than 20 years away from the modeling industry, supermodel Christy Turlington just made her surprise return to the runway when she closed Marc Jacobs‘ New York Fashion Week show on Wednesday, February 13.

The 50-year-old model turned heads when she strutted down the catwalk wearing a gorgeous black feathered gown with black leather boots and, not surprisingly, Christy looked completely in her element during the show. OMG @themarcjacobs invited me to close his beautiful show tonight and I couldn’t resist,” she wrote via Instagram after her appearance. See Christy’s epic return to the runway in the photo below!

In Christy’s cute caption, she also explained why she wanted to return to the runway for Marc. “A. I have known and loved this man since I met him at age 16. B. I turned 50 this year and have arrived at a place where ‘Why the F not’ is the answer that comes up when I ask myself questions. C. I have a 15-year-old daughter who I desperately want to see and hear me and this is a medium that ‘speaks’ to her,” she wrote.

The last time Christy walked in one of Marc’s shows was in 1993 and, just one year later in 1994, she decided to leave the modeling industry altogether. “I thought, you know what? I’d rather end it when I want to end it, rather than somebody else doing it for me,” she previously explained in a 2012 interview with luxury magazine Du Jour. “I never really thought it was going to last that long anyway.”

Although Christy sadly gave up walking high-fashion runways at the young age of 25, she’s still remained a presence in the modeling world and has returned to the spotlight for designer print campaigns over the years. Today, she’s focusing more on her two kids, Grace Burns, 15, and Finn Burns, 13, and her loving husband, Edward Burns.
