Sadly, this is the second Star Wars Day without Carrie Fisher, who died of a heart attack in December 2016 at age 60. The late actress starred as Princess Leia in four Star Wars films: Star Wars: Episode IV — A New Hope (1977), Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back (1980), Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi (1983) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015).

Shortly after her passing, the cast proved their close bond when Harrison and Mark paid special tributes to their late co-star. “Carrie was one-of-a-kind… brilliant, original,” Harrison said. “Funny and emotionally fearless. She lived her life, bravely. We will all miss her.”

Mark added, “It’s never easy to lose such a vital, irreplaceable member of the family, but this is downright heartbreaking. Carrie was one-of-a-kind who belonged to us all — whether she liked it or not.”

“She was our princess, damn it, and the actress who played her blurred into one gorgeous, fiercely independent and ferociously funny, take-charge woman who took our collective breath away. Determined and tough, but with a vulnerability that made you root for her and want her to succeed and be happy,” he added.
