Eric Cowell has quite the TV franchise to handle as soon as he gets older. Simon Cowell recently sat down and spoke to his ex-girlfriend (awkward) on Extra about America’s Got Talent, which returns next month. During the sit-down, the music mogul revealed that his 4-year-old son is eager to work on the popular talent show.

Simon, 59, says Eric asked him, “Daddy, when I’m older, can I work on ‘AGT’?” To which Simon replied, “No, you will be running ‘AGT’ by the age of 18.'” The former American Idol judge then reveals that Eric was completely fine knowing that that will be his responsibility soon.

This isn’t the first time Simon has brought up the fact that he’s eager to have his son take over the business one day. Just last month Simon told Lizzie Cundy on the UK morning show This Morning all about his plans for his son. “He’s in training as you will see over the weekend,” the X-Factor judge explained. “I’m getting him ready to do my job.” And that job comes with quite the salary we’re sure, so little Eric can expect that.

Simon and his girlfriend, Lauren Silverman, welcomed Eric in 2014 after starting to date in 2013. This of course comes after two very public relationships for Simon: one with Terri, which lasted from 2002 to 2008, and later on with make-up artist, Mezhgan Hussainy, who Simon was actually engaged to from 2010 to 2011. But it certainly seems like Lauren is here to stay. In fact, earlier this year an insider told Closer that Lauren is all about having another child with Simon. “Lauren wants another baby,” the insider said. “But Simon is happy with just one. He’s very conscious that he’s getting older, so whether Lauren can wear him down, who knows?”

Well for now, it seems like little Eric will have to run his father’s businesses all on his own.

America’s Got Talent: The Champions airs Jan. 7 on NBC.
