Our Fight — Olivia Newton-John and More Stars Who Have Bravely Battled Breast Cancer

Breast cancer has taken the lives of one too many people around the world, especially in Hollywood. So many actresses have publicly talked about their struggles with the disease, including Jane Fonda, Barbara Walters and Grease‘s Olivia Newton-John.

“When you have a cancer diagnosis, it changes things. We all know we’re going to die one day. We don’t like to think about it, but one day we all will,” the Australian native previously told The Herald Sun in an interview. “When you have a cancer diagnosis, it just makes it more obvious that it could happen and it makes you much more aware of the present and that every day is a gift and that’s how I live.”

In 1992, Olivia revealed she was diagnosed with breast cancer, but after getting treatment, fans thought she was alright. Her cancer sadly returned in 2013 and once more in 2018. But despite everything that she went through, Olivia said she’s just been learning how to “relax” and feel “gratitude.”

“I just want everyone to know, I’m here, I’m doing great,” she told Entertainment Tonight in August 2019. “I’m doing really well and I’m really healthy.”

That will to fight is something Jane can relate to. In 2016, the Barbarella star had a mastectomy before the Golden Globe Awards and in January 2018, she had a cancerous growth removed from her lower lip.

“I just want to explain the bandage,” she previously told the crowd at a BUILD series event, according to ET. “I just had cancer taken from my lip. I thought it was going to heal in time before I came before you, but it’s fine. I just want to explain it. I don’t normally go around like this.”

The Barbarella star has done everything in her power to stay healthy, and like most A-listers who had breast cancer, she plans on staying around for a really long time.
