Forget the crimes the characters investigate on [Hawaii Five-0](http://www.cbs.com/shows/hawaiifive0/) — the real mystery on the show is the reason Scott Caan — who plays Detective Danny "Danno" Williams — has worn an arm brace in recent episodes. Everyone wants to know, but it seems like only Scott has the answers! One viewer even posed the question to Post-Gazette TV writer Rob Owen. “In recent weeks Scott Caan has had an arm brace on his arm on Hawaii Five-0,” the fan asked via email. “I was wondering if you could find out what happened to him. I don’t think this is part of a storyline.”

Rob contacted CBS and got a perfunctory and thoroughly-unenlightening response. “According to the show’s CBS publicist, Mr. Caan hurt his arm in real life while not working on the series so the injury was written into the show,” he wrote. Some Facebook fans think they have the answers, though. “Injured in a fall!” wrote one person. “He had surgery on his elbow,” another claimed.

Another Facebook commenter thinks Scott’s arm isn’t the only thing needing a fix. “This show needs an arm brace for the writers,” that viewer wrote. “Really getting bad and losing my interest.” Oh no! This isn’t even the first time the 41-year-old suffered an injury mid-production. In 2010, he did more damage to an old knee injury and had to be flown back to the mainland for ACL surgery, E! News previously reported.

At the time, showrunner Peter Lenkov couldn’t resist making a Hawaii Five-0 joke. “Working with [actor Alex O'Loughlin aka Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett], you're bound to get a few bumps and bruises along the way,” he said. (We should have told you to brace yourselves!)
