Aww! In honor of Prince Andrew‘s 59th birthday, Sarah Ferguson took to Instagram on Tuesday, February 19 to share a sweet birthday message for her ex-husband and the father of her two kids. “Happy Birthday, Andrew @hrhthedukeofyork,” the Duchess of York, also 59, captioned a collage of two photos of the Duke of York.

Though they divorced in 1996 after 10 years of marriage, royal fans and admirers praised Fergie on social media for maintaining such an amicable relationship with her very famous ex-hubby “You are so kind to him. Hope you remarry. Lots of love madam Sarah Ferguson,” one user wrote in the post’s comments section. “Lovely photos! Happy Birthday HRH! He is handsome! Together, Sarah and Andrew share their two daughters, Princess Beatrice, 30, and Princess Eugenie, 28. On the royal’s birthday, the couple’s younger daughter also took to social media to share a special message to her dad. “Happy Birthday to you, Papa,” the newlywed captioned a series of photos on Instagram. “We are so proud of you in everything you have achieved in your 59 years!”

Even though Sarah and Andrew are no longer married today they remain quite close and Fergie revealed to Modern Hero in December 2018 that the former pair — who live together a the Royal Lodge in Windsor, England — couldn’t be happier in their relationship. “Now our life together is the greatest ever,” she told the outlet. “It’s so hard to comprehend because we’re not normal. This is our fairy tale, and we’re telling it our way.”

Although Fergie seems to have things all figured out, the mom-of-two admitted that she used to blame herself for her split from Andrew all those years ago. “It was rock bottom. I had completely and utterly destroyed myself. I murdered myself,” the redheaded royal said of their past divorce. “I must have brought that on for myself, hadn’t I? That’s how I felt about myself, self-hatred at its height. I think that I lived in my ego for a very long time.”

She then added that spending time apart contributed to the demise of their marriage. “It was seven years, 40 days a year, I saw him. It was really, really difficult,” Fergie admitted. “It played into my abandonment. We both agreed we didn’t fight hard enough to keep it together.” Seeing how close Fergie and Andrew are today makes us so happy for them!
