April Kepner has already moved on. According to a new report by Deadline, Sarah Drew has been cast as co-lead Cagney in the upcoming CBS Cagney and Lacey reboot. This comes less than a week after news of her Grey’s Anatomy exit broke.

The upcoming spin-off will be about two female police detectives and friends who work together to keep the streets of LA safe. The award-winning show originally ran from 1981 until 1988 with Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless in the lead roles. Michelle Hurd has been cast as Sarah’s co-star Lacey, the athletic, empathetic, and straightforward one with more experience. Cagney is more easygoing and agile.

That sounds a lot like Sarah’s Grey’s character. That said, fans of the hit medical drama were sad about the news of her departure last week. The actress addressed her exit on social media soon after. “Thank you for all of the love,” Sarah wrote on Twitter. “I know you’re sad. I’m sad too. I haven’t really had the time to process this information. I’ve been with it for less than 48 hours, so I’m not ready to say my thank yous and give an all encompassing statement about my nine years here.”

She continued, “That will come later. For now, I’d like to say: I love you. And I love April, and her story isn’t over yet. And the really good news (for me, at least) is that I’m here on set shadowing one of my favorite people, Kevin McKidd, with my beloved Grey’s family all this week and next, so I get to process all of my feelings surrounded by the community that has nourished and nurtured me for almost a decade. For that, I am so grateful.” We’ll miss Sarah in Grey’s — but we can’t wait to watch her in the Cagney and Lacey reboot!
