While they have parted ways, that does not mean that Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry aren’t still working together for the sake of their son.

”Sara and Linda may be separated but they’re still on good terms,” a source exclusively tells Closer Weekly. “They were married for five years and they share their son Rhodes. They don’t hate each other and are still communicating. Sara’s two other kids, Levi and Sawyer are teenagers, but they like Linda and considered her their stepmom. All three kids get along and Sara and Linda are committed to making sure Rhodes, who’s five, stays close to his older siblings.” And with all that went down between the former couple — who were recently at the 10th Anniversary Gala Benefiting CORE — their kids of course remain their priority.

“Unfortunately, the marriage didn’t work out, but they still have to co-parent Rhodes and there are no plans to avoid each other,” the insider continued. “The Core event they were at was planned for a while so they kept their commitments. They chatted and said hello to each other. They’re both adults and as far as I know it wasn’t an awkward situation at all.”

The TV personality, 44, and the musician, 54, split in 2019 after five years of marriage, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Although, the 4 Non Blondes front woman is still trucking forward.

“I mean, it’s life, man. Life is happening and you’re witnessing it,” she exclusively told Closer Weekly at The Art of Elysium Celebration: Heaven on January 4. “You know, this is a moment in life and people get to witness it, and I’ve had an incredible journey and I’m still on an incredible journey that doesn’t … things that end doesn’t mean they’re over or they’re bad. It’s just you’re evolving into a different place. And that’s kind of how I’m looking at it.”
