While Killing Eve has won Sandra Oh many awards, including a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award, it hasn’t been easy, as the actress has revealed that filming some of the show’s gruesome scenes have forced her to take action to handle them.
“It’s definitely tough,” the 47-year-old told The Daily Telegraph of dealing with the harsh scenes. “I spend a lot of time in the garden, a lot of time walking as much as possible.” Sandra continued, “Shooting in London, which of course is a very busy city, makes it difficult to unwind. But it has pockets of real greenery, so I spend as much time in nature as I can,” she said.
She added, “I also do a lot of bodywork and that is essential, because you have to move that stuff out.”
The BBC America show focuses on a relationship between MI6 agent Eve, played by Sandra, and a Paris-based assassin named Villanelle, who is played by fellow actress, Jodie Commer. Killing Eve isn’t the only program that the Sideways costar has highlighted on her resume, as she was also a major part of Grey’s Anatomy for the first ten seasons, playing Dr. Cristina Yang.
Sandra has been missing from the ABC medical drama for the past five years, and fans shouldn’t expect her to return, as she recently opened up to Extra about her decision to steer clear of it. “No. Creatively, you have moved on and, while I know and I deeply appreciate, because I can feel it from the fans, how much they love Cristina and how the show keeps Cristina alive, for me [Killing Eve] is my home now,” she explained, adding, “This is where I am. I am Eve and that’s where I plan to stay as long as the show will have me, and that’s really where I want to be.”
Well we’re just glad we can still see Sandra display her talents on the screen!
