If it were up to Sandra Bullock, she would’ve had kids much younger than she actually did. “I would have been pregnant or knocked up at 17,” the actress told ET at the Bird Box premiere in NYC on Dec. 17. “I wanted to be a mom at a very young age. So I kind of felt the drive and the desire to.”

However, she had one thing standing in her way. “My mother knew that and she kept me under lock and key,” the 54-year-old explained. Not only does she play the role of a mother in her new hit movie Bird Box, but Sandra also plays the role of mom in real-life, too.

And even though she refrained from having kids in her younger years, Sandra is now the proud parent to her adopted children, Louis, 8, and Laila, 6. In her latest thriller, the actress plays the mother of two young children, who spend most of the movie running from an unseen evil in a post-apocalyptic world under attack.

While the film sounds quite terrifying, she assured that the set was extremely fun. Sandra even dished that she was able to bring her kiddos, who were able to play on the set while their mama was working.

“LEGOs was a big thing, [also] tag and catch,” Sandra recalled. “I mean, when you get two little people, there are basically three things that they like to do, and all three of those were done on set.”

Sandra even gushed about how happy it makes her that she can spend time with her kids and get work done. “How many people would love to be able to take their children to work and have that embraced?” the actress asked. “It’s so accepted and I feel like every set that I work on has sort of a familiar aspect to it [and] a safe feeling for family members.”

It’s a good thing that Sandra gets to bring her kiddos to set, considering she admitted to KTLA 5 Morning News that she has “neurotic” tendencies when it comes to her kids. “I’m afraid and I want to make sure that I do everything in my power to protect these two beautiful children that I’ve been blessed to raise,” she said. Don’t worry lady, you’re doing great!
