This situation just keeps on getting more and more awkward. Meghan Markle‘s half-sister, Samantha Markle, has been in the public eye time and time again over the past few months thanks to her plethora of negative public interviews about the Duchess of Sussex. And now, she’s made headlines for another unfortunate reason: she was reportedly turned away by security while attempting to visit Kensington Palace over the weekend.

Meg’s estranged sibling reportedly showed up to her home uninvited on Saturday, Oct. 6 in hopes to speak with her. But Sam’s visit didn’t exactly end with her meeting the brunette beauty. Instead, she was allegedly asked to leave after an embarrassing stand-off with the guard out front, according to The Mirror. The news outlet obtained photos of the 53-year-old being pushed in a wheelchair outside the royal monument, and in the pic, we see the man pushing her hand an envelope to the guard. We’re dying to know what she wrote in the letter, which we assume was intended for Meg!

“This was a huge move on the part of Meghan’s sister to try to see her face to face and the fact she was turned away speaks volumes,” a source told the news outlet. “This is the closest Meghan has come physically to that side of her family since she married into the royal family but palace staff had clearly been instructed not to allow her access.”

Samantha’s unwanted visit to Kensington Palace comes after she issued a public apology to Meghan. “I think everybody was hurt at not being included or invited to the wedding,” she recently shared. “But I felt as though it could have all been nipped in the bud had everyone been included and we all agreed to move forward with positive resolve, and the hurt feelings wouldn’t have snowballed.” Then, as if speaking to Meghan directly, she said, “Believe it or not, it doesn’t mean we love you any less.” She added, “I wish things could be different.”

During that sit-down with Channel 5 in the UK, Samantha also opened up about her trip to London. “I’ve always wanted to see London, but really I wanted to make the trip and sort of speak the wishes and thoughts and sentiments of my father, and hopefully get a message to my sister,” she explained. “Things aren’t really what they seem. There’s so much misperception. Hopefully, we could clear up the record and move forward with peaceful resolve.”

Samantha added, “I was hoping maybe we would have the chance to speak — that she would know I was here. But I don’t think that’s going to happen.” Well, better luck next time, Sam…
