In an interview with Closer Weekly, Salma Hayek opens up about balancing marriage and kids. She is a wife to her husband, François-Henri Pinault, and is also a mom to their nine-year-old daughter, Valentina.

“We support each other in everything we do,” Salma gushes to Closer of life with husband François-Henri, 54. “We don’t have a strong social life because we really like to spend time together.”

But Salma admits that becoming a parent in 2007 presented her with a challenge. “Sometimes the hardest thing to balance is motherhood with marriage, because [children] take over! Oh my God, they take over everything,” the 50-year-old Mexican-born beauty shared at Harper’s Bazaar’s 150 Most Fashionable Women event in LA on Jan. 27.

Her solution for balancing both? Salma tells to Closer that she often views François-Henri as the “other big kid to look after” in the family. “He looks like he’s self-sufficient, but they need the tender loving care, too!”
