“I did get close and I didn’t do it and it was the right move. But I love the idea — and I know you’re going to ask me — of marriage because my parents have been married for 47 years, and so I have this thing,” he added of someday getting married. “I figure the longer I wait, the older I’ll be, the closer to death I am, so I can get it in… and not screw it up.”

Ryan famously dated Dancing With the Stars judge Julianne Hough from 2010 until their split in 2013. Julianne — who is now engaged to pro hockey player Brooks Laich — opened up about her and Ryan’s breakup shortly after. “Every relationship, there was nothing wrong or bad, but there was nothing right,” she said at the time. “I had one foot out because I didn’t want to get hurt. And I didn’t say what was on my mind because I didn’t want to ruffle any feathers. I needed to be perfect.”
