Ryan Gosling & Eva Mendes Split After Two Years Of Dating

Movie stars Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes, who have been dating for two years, reportedly split up over Christmas.

The couple started dating in 2011 after filming the drama “The Place Beyond the Pines,” but seem to have parted ways due to different interests.

“They started having problems back in September,” a source tells In Touch magazine. “They decided to quietly call it off for good around Christmas.”

According to the insider, Mendes preferred the limelight much more than her “introverted” partner.

“Eva loves Hollywood, the parties, the glamor,” the source says. “She loves going out.”

The pair also appeared to have different dreams for their futures. “I’m certainly not thinking about being a mom,” the 39-year-old Miami-born actress has said. “I can’t imagine it. I’m too selfish.”

On the other hand, Gosling has always wanted to be a dad. “I’d like to be making babies,” the 33-year-old star previously stated. “But I’m not, so I’m making movies.”

An insider tells Life & Style Weekly that since the split, “[Ryan] packed up and moved back to Canada for a while. He felt he needed time out of the limelight to refocus.”

But despite calling it quits, the In Touch source insists “there is no ill will” between the couple. “Neither is rushing out to date other people right now.”

Before the pair became an item, Mendes dated musician George Gargurevich for nearly 10 years. Gosling had a two-year relationship with his “Notebook” co-star Rachel McAdams, and has been linked in the past to Sandra Bullock and Blake Lively.
