Proud grandma! Rosie O’Donnell couldn’t help but gush about life with her adorable granddaughter while recently attending opening night for The Sound Inside on Broadway in New York City on Thursday, October 17. During her chat with Closer Weekly, Rosie revealed the best thing about being a “Nana.”

“Oh wow, just to see that little girl with my little girl’s face is pretty overwhelming,” the 57-year-old exclusively shared with Closer, before sweetly adding that it “throws me back 22 years.”

As fans of The Rosie O’Donnell Show star know, Rosie became the doting grandma when her daughter Chelsea, 22, welcomed her first daughter, Skylar Rose, in December 2018. At the time of the little girl’s arrival, the former The View host revealed she missed the birth of her first grandchild by “an hour.”

“It was really trippy, I have to say,” Rosie recalled. “She called me from Wisconsin — Chels, my daughter, lives there with her partner Jake — and she called and said, ‘I’m in labor,’ and I got on a plane and I missed the birth by, like, an hour. But she’s happy.” Aww!

Rosie added that she couldn’t be more over the moon for Chelsea’s growing family. “Just to see my daughter so happy and so, sort of content, and this guy who loves her so much, loving that baby,” she said. “Now she feels, I think a lot of adopted kids feel like until they have their own child, they don’t have that unit to look at someone who looks like them to see genetically that they have their own kind of history, so it was really a very beautiful thing.”

Even though she wasn’t present for the adorable tot’s arrival, Rosie said nothing could take away from the overwhelming feelings she had when she became a grandmother for the very first time. The SMILF star reflected on the life-changing moment during an appearance on Late Night With Seth Meyers this past January.

“It was something really beautiful,” the Find Me author — who is also the mom of Parker, 24, Blake, 19, Vivienne, 16, and Dakota, 6 — said at the time. “It’s very trite, but it’s what everyone says: When you’re a grandparent, it’s like [having] a baby times a million. And that’s what it felt like.”

We bet Rosie can’t wait for another grandbaby!
