Counting his blessings. Rod Stewart wanted his fans to know he isn’t going anywhere after revealing he’s in remission from prostate cancer. The iconic “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?” singer opened up about his secret 3-year battle with the illness while attending a special Prostate Project fundraiser over the weekend.

“Two years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer,” the 74-year-old told the crowd of over 500 guests during his recent outing at the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England, the Daily Mirror reported. Rod candidly revealed he was diagnosed with prostate cancer during a routine check-up at the doctor in February 2016.

The “I Don’t Want to Talk About It” crooner, who attended the event alongside former Faces bandmates Ronnie Wood and Kenny Jones, continued, “No one knows this, but I thought this was about time I told everybody. I’m in the clear, now, simply because I caught it early,” he gratefully confessed. “I have so many tests.”

Since Rod was able to beat the formidable illness, he said he hoped to help raise awareness around prostate cancer  — which includes urging men to get their check-ups. “Guys, you’ve really got to go to the doctor,” the best-selling music artist insisted. “If you’re positive, and you work through it and you keep a smile on your face … I’ve worked for two years and I’ve just been happy, and the good Lord looked after me.”

Rod’s confession regarding his secret battle with cancer comes as a complete shock considering the star appeared to be in good health as of late. Just last month, the “Forever Young” singer and his longtime wife, Penny Lancaster, took some time off and enjoyed a day full of relaxation in Los Angeles.

Also in July, Rod and Penny, 48, were spotted vacationing in St-Tropez, France. The adorable lovebirds enjoyed a lavish, European holiday filled with lots of partying, jetskiing and oceanside family fun. Considering how amazing of a relationship they have, we wouldn’t be surprised if Penny was Rod’s sole support through his cancer battle.

“Penny is my whole world. What a girl,” Rod once gushed to Hello!. “Love means many things to many people but to me it’s wanting to share everything with the one you love and I love Penny more now than ever, if that is at all possible.”

We hope Rod feels back to new soon!
