Eight months after Rita Wilson revealed she was battling breast cancer and had undergone a double mastectomy, the actress has announced she is now cancer free!

“I am cancer free. I’m one hundred percent healthy!” Tom Hanks‘ wife, 59, said at the The Hollywood Reporter‘s Women in Entertainment Breakfast presented by Lifetime on Wednesday, Dec. 9, according to People.

“You never know how your spouse is going to react in a situation like this. I was so amazed, so blown away by the care my husband gave me. It was such a normal, intimate time,” Rita said of Tom’s unconditional love and support following her diagnosis.

Now that she’s healthy, Rita — whose album, Am / Fm: The B-Sides, was released in June 2014 — is gearing up to go on her first tour with her band. “I feel really blessed and very lucky,” she added to People. “Part of the reason for going on tour is that I want to show people that you can have cancer, and you can still be out there doing what you love to do, and it’s not a death sentence like it used to be.”
