For Ree Drummond, her birthday isn’t that celebration-worthy. But according to her husband, Ladd, it’s an occasion worth commemorating. And that’s exactly what he did when he surprised his Pioneer Woman star wife with an epic 50th birthday party filled with friends, family, and food.

The red-headed beauty took to Instagram where she shared photos of the magnificent milestone birthday that was held at P-Town Pizza, her new restaurant. “I was truly surprised,” Ree said of the birthday bash. Take a look at the sweet photos below and make sure to swipe right to see more!

Ladd had a surprise birthday party for me last night. I was truly surprised. My sister was there from Seattle, my closest high school friends came from San Diego, Dallas, Kansas City, and Atlanta, and my oldest/dearest childhood friends were there, too. Friends and family from Pawhuska showed up, and our Mercantile chefs and bakers made a spread of food I’ll be daydreaming about for the rest of my life. At the end of the evening, we were gathered around a fire pit laughing so hard about old stories and memories that our ribs hurt. I had been telling my husband that I really wanted the whole birthday thing to blow over this year and just pretend it never happened. I’m so glad the little booger decided not to listen to me. 😂❤️

The mom-of-four had originally pleaded with Ladd that she “really wanted the whole birthday thing to blow over this year and just pretend it never happened,” Ree wrote in her caption. However, the lifestyle guru admitted that she’s “so glad the little booger decided not to listen to me.” Cute!

The party consisted of close friends, family from out of town, and of course the couple’s daughter Paige. “My sister was there from Seattle, my closest high school friends came from San Diego, Dallas, Kansas City, and Atlanta, and my oldest/dearest childhood friends were there, too. Friends and family from Pawhuska showed up, and our Mercantile chefs and bakers made a spread of food I’ll be daydreaming about for the rest of my life.”

After being served with an impressive selection of goodies including macarons, cream puffs, cookies, dessert cups, and a birthday cake decorated with her signature vintage floral design, the celebration wound down. Ree said that guests “gathered around a fire pit laughing so hard about old stories and memories that our ribs hurt.”

It’s the sweet love that Ree has with her husband of 22 years that she said makes marriage all worthwhile. “This isn’t the answer for everybody, but we go to church together every Sunday,” she told People in 2017. “It’s something that we do no matter what comes up. No matter how tired we are. I’ve seen the times that we’ve slipped away from that, and disaster is lurking in the bushes.”
