Seven months after Rebecca Gayheart filed for divorce from Eric Dane, she admits that co-parenting their daughters Billie Dane, 8, and Georgia Dane, 6, is not as easy as it looks. The 47-year-old mom recently opened up to Us Weekly at the Giving Keys’ Opens a New Window retail store opening party in LA about her new experience with Eric.

“We do our best,” Rebecca shared. “I think that we’re, you know, I’m not going to lie, it’s not easy all the time. But we’re doing OK.”

Since Rebecca filed for joint and legal custody of Billie and Georgia earlier this year, she has been getting the hang of being a co-parent. And when it comes to leaving her kids at home to attend an event, Rebecca admitted that it’s hard but she’s knows that Billie and Georgia are in good hands.

“One of my daughters really did not want me to leave and I told her that this was important for me and I left,” she shared. “But I have so much guilt. Like, I’m thinking about it every second.”

Rebecca added, “At the end of the day, I know my daughter is safe, I know she has a roof over her head, I know she’s gonna have great food for dinner and there’s someone who loves her and will put her to bed nicely.”

To give her daughters a sense of independence, Rebecca hopes that they can one day understand why she cannot always be with them. “Hopefully she’ll learn that I value myself and my self-care enough to sometimes step away,” Rebecca explained. “Hopefully she will learn to do that for herself.”

Right now, Rebecca is only focused on her family and how she can be the best mom imaginable for her kids so dating is out of the question. “No dating! I hang out with girlfriends,” Rebecca revealed.
