Reba McEntire and Ex Skeeter ‘Remain Great Friends’ Post-Split: ‘Maybe They’ll Get Back Together’
Nearly a month after news of Reba McEntire‘s heartbreaking split from boyfriend Anthony “Skeeter Lasuzzo, sources told Closer Weekly hope isn’t over for the adorable pair. Although the country music superstar is currently a single lady, the insider revealed the amicable exes are on more than just good terms.
“They remain great friends,” the source exclusively shared with Closer. “Reba and Skeeter feel like they’re just at different points in their lives. Maybe they’ll get back together when Reba is ready to settle down a bit more, but she’s not there yet.”
The insider insisted their love story is left open-ended considering how well the 64-year-old beauty and her former beau, 70, meshed. “When they first began dating, Reba was so happy to have a partner in life again,” the source shared. “She really missed having someone to travel with and enjoy activities with. She’s so young in spirit and wanted a partner again, and Skeeter was the perfect fit.”
Despite thinking they were a match made in heaven, the source dished Reba is holding up thanks to the support from her fellow country stars and admirers. “She feels so fulfilled by her career and feels like she has so much to share with her fans,” the insider explained. “She’s really looking forward to her new projects, especially getting back on the road with her longtime friends and collaborators Brooks and Dunn.”
The source even noted a possible reason for their unexpected split after two years of dating. “Skeeter has no interest in the rigors of life on the road. He’s a private guy and isn’t interested in the showbiz lifestyle,” the insider continued. “Unfortunately, their relationship couldn’t handle the strain.”
Although she’s no longer in a relationship, the “Night the Lights Went out in Georgia” songstress isn’t going to let a little heartache get her down. “She’s so excited for all she has in store,” the insider revealed. “She loves spending time with her family and friends and she isn’t scared to be alone, because she’s never lonely. She’s built a great life and she is enjoying it.”
Shortly after news circulated of Reba and Skeeter’s breakup, a separate source revealed how the Academy Award winner was really doing. “Don’t shed any tears for Reba. Single or attached, there’s no stopping her,” the insider exclusively told Closer following her first appearance since the split at the 2019 CMAs in November. “She’s better than ever.”
