She may be 91 years old, but that doesn’t mean Queen Elizabeth isn’t up to date on what’s “cool” and what’s not. In fact, the royal is quite tech-savvy these days believe it or not!

Turns out, Elizabeth uses Skype to keep in touch with her grandkids, specifically Zara Tindall! “She’s very much in the modern world, and as most grandparents know, if they want to keep in touch with their families these days that’s what they have to do!” Yvonne Browne, vice president of the Women’s Institute, previously told People back in 2015.

Surprisingly enough, Elizabeth was on the internet long before that! The monarch sent out her first email in 1976 (crazy, right?!) during an event at an army base. Peter Kirstein set up the account for the Queen, and her username was HME2. She became the first monarch to send an email, and honestly, beat everyone to the internet! Twenty years later, she launched www.royal.gov.uk, which had its first update in 2009.

When it comes to social media, we seriously want to follow Elizabeth! In 2014, she sent her first tweet via the royal family account! “It is a pleasure to open the Information Age exhibition today at the @ScienceMuseum and I hope people will enjoy visiting. Elizabeth R,” she wrote at the time.

Before that, though, in 2007, Elizabeth launched a YouTube Channel (be right back, we’re going to watch every single video!). The royal family then made Facebook and Flickr accounts in 2010, and in 2013, Instagram launched! It’s through their Instagram and Twitter accounts that we get to see special photos from the royal family as well as receive some of their biggest updates. Keep on posting, Elizabeth — we’ll be following!
