Queen Elizabeth Reveals She Used to Have Braces: ‘It Was a Very Long Time Ago’

Now we know where Queen Elizabeth gets her amazing smile from! While meeting children getting fitted for braces at the Royal National ENT and Eastman Dental Hospitals, the monarch revealed she once had her teeth straightened when she was younger.

“I had wires, luckily it was a very long time ago,” she told 10-year-old Ilia Aristovich about her teeth. “I think it’s worth it in the end.”

The 93-year-old monarch’s grandson Prince Harry also had his teeth straightened when he was younger. As did Prince William, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

William’s wife, Kate Middleton, has been learning a lot about her husband’s family since Queen Elizabeth took her under her wing. The British royal is teaching Kate everything she needs to know about taking over the throne.

“Kate’s learning all the ins and outs,” an insider recently told Closer Weekly. “The queen admires her professionalism, commitment and ability to take royal life in stride without getting flustered.”

The more time the Duchess of Cambridge spends with William’s grandmother, then the more prepared she feels for the job. “Over the past few years, they’ve gotten to know each other on a personal level and the queen became very impressed with her. Kate’s also much more at ease in her presence now,” the insider shared.

The two have been building such a close bond that they’ve been “communicating one-on-one,” instead of going through other people. “Elizabeth values her opinions and trusts her judgment,” the source revealed.

After all, since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are now stepping back from their royal duties, the Queen has to rely on Kate and Prince William more than ever. That’s why she’s “supportive” of them taking some time off for their family.

“Kate and William have been allocated more duties since the royal shake up but they’re trying not to let work to get in the way of their family time. That’s why they’re taking time off to spend with the kids over half term,” another insider recently shared to Closer Weekly. “They’ve set boundaries and the Queen is on their side. She’s supportive of their decision.”
