Queen Elizabeth Adored the Youngest Generation of Royals: Meet Her Majesty’s 12 Great-Grandkids

Like any family, the British royals are constantly expanding. So, you might be asking yourself, just how many great-grandchildren did Queen Elizabeth have? The royal monarch was the proud mom of four, doting grandmother of eight and a great-grandmother of 12 cute kids.

The beloved queen who died in September 2022 — began her family when she tied the knot with her late husbandPrince Philip, in 1947. Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh — who died at age 99 in April 2021 — became the loving mom and dad of their four kids, Prince CharlesPrincess AnnePrince Edward and Prince Andrew.

As the queen’s children grew up, they went on to create families of their own. Charles shares his two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, with late ex-wife Princess Diana, while Anne is the mom of Zara Tindall and Peter Phillips with ex-husband Mark Phillips. As for Edward, he shares Lady Louise Windsor and James, Viscount Severn with spouse Sophie, Countess of Wessex, and Andrew is the father of daughters Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie with former wife Sarah Ferguson.

Following the late queen’s passing, George, Louis and Charlotte’s titles changed from Princes and Princess of Cambridge to Princes and Princess of Wales.

Her Majesty shared a sweet bond with each of her great-grandchildren, but the iconic royal has a feeling William and wife Duchess Kate Middleton‘s daughter will be the one following in her incredible footsteps. “The queen has already picked up on signs that Charlotte is her mini-me,” an insider exclusively revealed to Closer in 2019. “She’s confident that her great-granddaughter will grow up to be a great leader and role model.”

The former princess also thought Harry and wife Meghan Markle‘s son, Archie, is “the most adorable child,” another source said in April 2020. “Archie [reminds] the queen of when Harry was a baby because they look so alike, although she can see Meghan in him too!” the insider explained. “She can’t believe how much he’s grown and changed.”

Since great-grandbaby No. 12 arrived, Elizabeth was thrilled to watch another one of her youngsters grow up. When Beatrice and Edoardo announced the news of their daughter’s birth, the queen reacted with a statement, saying she was “delighted” by the little one’s arrival. “The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well,” said the statement.
