It was a scary bit of news for the royals upon learning that Prince Philip was sent to the hospital, especially for his wife, Queen Elizabeth, who has been married to her love for over seven decades.

“The Queen is worried sick,” an insider recently told Closer Weekly. “She can’t imagine what life will be like without her husband in it.” The 98-year-old landed in the hospital on December 20.

“The Duke of Edinburgh travelled from Norfolk this morning to the King Edward VII Hospital in London for observation and treatment in relation to a pre-existing condition. The admission is a precautionary measure, on the advice of His Royal Highness’ Doctor,” a statement read, according to Us Weekly.

However, there was some good news, as the famous royal was able to reunite with his family after spending four nights being looked after in the hospital. Philip was “discharged by his doctor,” a statement released by Buckingham Palace read. “His Royal Highness would like to thank everyone who sent their good wishes.”

Prince Philip has been slowing down recently, in hopes of looking after his health. Back in August 2017, the duke decided to retire from his public duties. “His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh has decided that he will no longer carry out public engagements from the autumn of this year. In taking this decision, The Duke has the full support of The Queen,” a statement at the time read.

“Prince Philip will attend previously scheduled engagements between now and August, both individually and accompanying The Queen,” the statement continued. “Thereafter, The Duke will not be accepting new invitations for visits and engagements, although he may still choose to attend certain public events from time to time.”

While Philip isn’t seen on public outings very often anymore, we are just glad that he got to spend the holidays with his family. We truly wish hope he continues to remain strong and healthy moving forward.
