Awkward! When Queen Elizabeth met with President Donald Trump at Windsor Castle on July 13, the monarch looked classicly elegant in a blue dress coat and a matching hat. But it’s actually the pretty brooch that the 92-year-old Queen donned during the visit that’s now making headlines.

According to multiple reports, Queen Elizabeth wore the diamond and yellow gold American State Visit Brooch while chatting with Trump. So why is her accessory significant? The brooch was previously given to the Queen by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama during a state visit back in 2011 leading many people to think Queen Elizabeth wore the accessory to subtly slam Donald at their visit.

Following Donald and Melania Trump‘s meeting with the Queen, reports also surfaced that Prince Charles and Prince William purposefully beefed up their royal schedules to make them unavailable for the POTUS’ visit.

“This business of Prince Charles and Prince William not being there for the Trump visit was a snub. It’s a very, very unusual thing for the Queen to be there on her own. Usually she is accompanied by somebody,” an insider shared.

“[Charles] goes to what he wants to go to, and if he had wanted to be there he could have been,” the source said, adding that both Charles and William “simply refused” to meet the Trumps.

However, Buckingham Palace later released a statement about Charles and William’s noticeable absence and stated, “In line with standard practice for guest of government visits the President and First Lady were received by the Queen as Head of State. The arrangements were mutually agreed between the Palace and the UK and US governments. There was never a suggestion that other members of the royal family would take part.”
