Queen Elizabeth Has Had Just About Enough of Meghan Markle’s Dad — and We Can’t Blame Her
Yikes. Queen Elizabeth is reportedly furious with Meghan Markle’s father, Thomas Markle, after he made a quick buck staging paparazzi photos of himself reading a book about Britain. “Lord Chamberlain, Her Majesty and the Duke are very angry with Meghan’s father,” a source told The Daily Express. And we bet she and Prince Philip aren’t too happy now that he’s officially bailed on the royal wedding.
Thomas went back and forth with his decision to come or not come to the nuptials before he underwent heart surgery yesterday. He previously told TMZ, “[The doctors] will go in and clear blockage, repair damage, and put a stent where it is needed.”
Meghan confirmed on Thursday, May 17, that her father would not be attending due to his bad health. “Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,” she said. “I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”
All of this drama started back when it was revealed Tom staged paparazzi pics. While it’s not clear why — besides the fact that he was offered $100,000 — Thomas decided to go through with them, he is reportedly “deeply embarrassed” by the situation according to his son, Thomas Markle Jr. Supposedly, Meghan’s dad plans to apologize to his daughter and Prince Harry privately.
Apology or not, the entire scandal has caused Meghan a great deal of stress in the days leading up to her wedding and there is some solid evidence to prove it. Just take the statement released by a Kensington Palace spokesperson regarding the staged paparazzi photos and how the couple is trying to cope.
“This is a deeply personal moment for Ms. Markle in the days before her wedding,” the spokesperson explained a few days ago. “She and Prince Harry ask again for understanding and respect to be extended to Mr. Markle in this difficult situation.” We can’t see how Meghan and her dad’s relationship will bounce back after this…
