RIPPrincess Diana and More Celebrities’ Last Words Before Death Revealed

Twenty years after Princess Diana‘s untimely passing, the world is still mourning her tragic death. Even today, royal fans continue to uncover never-before-heard details of the People’s Princess’ fatal August 1997 car accident — including the last words Diana uttered before passing away.

Several eyewitnesses at the Parisian crash site have reported Prince William and Prince Harry’s mother was heard saying, “Oh my god,” before falling unconscious. Diana later died at age 36 from the injuries she sustained in the car crash at a local hospital. In the HBO documentary, Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy, William and Harry candidly opened up about their memories of Diana before her passing.

“There’s not many days that go by that I don’t think of her. Her 20th anniversary year feels like a good time to… remember, you know, all the good things about her and hopefully provide maybe a different side to her that others haven’t seen before,” William said in the TV special. So sad.

“We felt, you know, incredibly loved, Harry and I… and I’m very grateful that that love still — still feels there,” William continued, with Harry adding, “It was that love that — that even if she was on the other side of a room… that you, as a son, you could feel it.”

The brothers additionally opened up about the final conversation they shared their Diana before her death. At the time, William was 15 years old and Harry was just age 12, so, when their mother telephoned the brothers to catch up on Aug. 31 — the day she died — William and Harry cut the conversation short because they wanted to get back to playing with their cousins. “I can’t necessarily remember what I said, but all I do remember is regretting for the rest of my life how short the phone call was,” Harry said in the documentary.

“If I’d known that that was the last time I was going to speak to my mother, the things I would have said to her. Looking back at it now — it’s incredibly hard. I have to deal with that for the rest of my life: not knowing that it was the last time I’d speak to my mom, how differently that conversation would have panned out if I’d had even the slightest inkling that her life was going to be taken that night,” he continued.

“[We were] running around, minding our own business, playing with our cousins and having a very good time. [We] were in a rush to say, ‘goodbye, see you later, can I go off?'” William said. “If I’d known what was going to happen I wouldn’t have been quite so blasé about it. That phone call sticks in my mind quite heavily.”
